- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
For assembling:
- 4 burger buns (sesame seed or plain)
- 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 4 leaves of crisp lettuce
- 4 slices of ripe tomato
- 4–8 slices of dill pickles
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
Optional extras:

- Jalapeños for a spicy kick
Steps
- Prepare the patties
- In a bowl, gently mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and optional seasonings (garlic or onion powder).
- Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, about 3/4-inch thick. Press a small indent in the center
with your thumb (this prevents puffing up while cooking).
- Cook the patties
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface.
- Cook patties for 3–4 minutes on the first side until browned. Flip and cook
for another 3–4 minutes, or until desired doneness.
- Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
- Toast the buns
- Split the buns and lightly toast them on the grill or skillet until golden.
- Assemble the burgers
- Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun and ketchup/mustard on the top bun.
- Layer lettuce, tomato, and pickles on the bottom bun.
- Add the cheesy beef patty on top.
- Finish with onion slices and any extra toppings you like.
- Close with the top bun.
- Serve & enjoy
- Serve immediately with fries, onion rings, or a simple side salad.
